  - - - Dept of Health in Ireland proposed a tax on sugar sweetened drinks to reduce growing obesity levels in Ireland and this commenced April 2018 -> applies to non-alcoholic, water-based and juice based drinks which have added sugar content of 5g per 100ml above
        
        Products are chosen based on having little to no nutritional value and satiety -> fruit juices w/ no added sugars not included due to nut value (vits/fibre) and dairy products not included due to added nutritional value of calcium/protein and provides satiation preventing excessive consumption
        
        5-8g sugar/100ml = 20c per litre. >8g sugar\100ml = 30c per litre
