REQUIRED PRACTICAL 2
- place a small beaker into a large beaker
- use ketal to biol some water
-
- place a carboard lid over leaving a small hole for the thermometer and then place the thermometer into the small beaker through thw whole
- record starting tempersture and start a stopwatch then record tempertature every 3 mintues for 15minutes
- them start the experiment again using the same amount of boiling hot water but using an insulating material such as bubble wrap around the small beaker
then epeat experiment again with other insulating materials such as cotton wool and polysyrene by using same mass

NATIONAL GRID
-
enegery is always lost in the power cables due to their resistance bgger distnce from power stations to home= bigger energy lost
-
STEP UP TRANSFORMER= increases the potential difference to several hundred thousand volts less energy is lost when the potential difference is very high

static energy charge
When certain insulating materials are rubbed against each otherthey become electrically charged. Negatively charged electrons are rubbed off one material and on to the other. The material that gains electrons becomes negatively charged. The material that loses electrons is left with an equal positive charge.
When two electrically charged objects are brought close together they exert a force on each other. Two objects that carry the same type of charge repel. Two objects that carry different types of charge attract. Attraction and repulsion between two charged objects are examples of non-contact force
