Design
Explanation of research design based on research question
Include identification and definition of variables (independent/dependent, if appropriate)
Subjects + Participants
Identification of population of interest
Identification of intended sample and how the subjects will be recruited.
Discussion of any additional demographic variables that will be measured and included
Instruments
Should include a description of every instrument that will be used (including archival data) to collect data.
Be sure to include a copy of all instruments (including surveys and interview protocols) as an attached appendix.
For each existing instrument provide the intended purpose and any available information on reliability and validity.
For each instrument that will be developed, provide information about development and plan for collecting information about reliability and validity. May include a description of a pilot study.
Procedures
Outline plan for data collection. Think about the chronological process (steps in order).
For archival data, this will include information about how data will be accessed. For new data collection, this will include a full outline of data collection procedures including information about who, where, when (time frame) and how (consenting and administration of instruments).
Outline can include a pilot if necessary for new instrument development.
Discuss how data will be stored, paying particular attention to ensuring security and confidentiality
Analysis
Explanation of intended analysis (quantitative and/or qualitative)
Clearly identify variables for each analysis
Think about what tables/graphs you will want to include in your Results section.
