Putting the truth of Scripture into practice is the ultimate goal of Scripture in general.
The purpose of the Scriptures is to change people through their spiritual life.
Definition of Application
Finale: The process of discovering the principles of truth in Scripture that are meant to affect one's belief and behavior and diligently putting that truth into practice in one's life
Process of Application
Note: Always have an attitude of dependence on God throughout the application process
Know yourself
Be honest about your strengths and weaknesses
Be open to the perspective of others
Be teachable
Identify If the applications are transferable across time and space to other audiences (level of specificity)
Is it a broad theological or moral principle?
Consider cultural context. Does it have the same significance as it did then?
Find appropriate applications that embody the broader principles
Mediate on the passage
Memorize it
Write it down somewhere
