- - - - tourists sites require a large amount of power, water and land leading to shortage of services in nearby villages
      - local cannot afford to pay as much as tourists for these services and thus, these will be diverted to tourists sites instead of meeting needs of locals

      - however, revenue generated from tourism does not always stay in the country. large amt. of tourists receipt (amt. of money generated from tourists spending) is lost as a leakage, which occurs when revenue generated from tourism is paid to other countries to import G&S to meet demand of tourist
      - growth in tourism allows for growth in income for individuals and countries
    - - tourists sites require large amounts of infrastructure and facilities, without these infrastructure, tourism cannot operate at a large scale and develop
