Training = a process that involves increasing the knowledge and skills of a worker to enable them to do their jobs more effectively.
Costs of recruitments, selection and training
- Administrative costs will be higher if the nature of the jobs have changed or if the jobs are newly created.
- Jobs will have to be advertised > low cost for internal as internal communication systems will be used.
- The interviewing process can be expensive for a business as it may involve some highly paid senior staff.
- If workers are involved in the off-the-job training they will not produce anything > results in lower output levels.
- businesses are concerned if employees will leave the job after being trained, therefore some businesses prefer to recruit workers that have already been trained.
