most Czech schools are administered by the state, but there are also some private schools (mostly a specific type of education)

primary school: children can enrol at grammar schools, apprenticeship centres, vocatioinal or other professional schools or art schools

the colleges or universities: entrace exams, obtain diploma and a title, undergraduate students study for 3 years to obtain their bachelor´s degree and 5 years for the master´s degree, medical degrees take 6 years

4 stages: primary education, secondary education, further education, higher education
primary education: at the age of 5, infant school (between ages 5 and 7, playing and learning the basics of reading, writing and arithmetic), junior school (between ages 7 and 11, work becomes formal)
secondary education: grammar schools (prepare pupils for studies at a university), secondary modern schools (a general education), secondary technical schools (education related to industry, commerce or agriculture), comprehensive schools (take pupils regardless of their ability)
GSCE (General Certificate of Secondary Education): between ages 14 and 16, course work and written examinations in some subject
at the age of 16: they can leave school (can go to a FE College - Further Education College, vocational trainings like engineering, cooking or hairdressing), they can stay for another 2 years and prepare for GCE (General Certificate of Education) at A-level (Advanced level), A-level is used as entrance qualifications for university
higher education: full-time course, a university (people are accepted on the basis of their A-level results, university titles), an institute of polytechnics, a college of higher education
