CLIMATE CHANGE IN MALAYSIA: TRENDS, CONRIBUTORS, IMPACTS, MITIGATION AND ADAPTATIONS https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0048969718337732?via%3Dihub
METHODOLOGY
- SELECTION STATION WAS BASED ON COMPREHENSIVENESS OF ONLINE DATA PROVIDED BY THE NATIONAL CLIMATIC DATA CENTER.
- DATA OF AVERAGE PRECIPITATION AND RAINY DAYS WERE EXTRACTED FROM THE WEBSITE OF THE WORLD WEATHER ONLINE.
- DATA OF MEAN SEA LEVEL WERE SOURCED FROM THE RECORDS OF TIDE GAUGES MAINTAINED BY THE PERMANENT SERVICE OF MEAN SEA LEVEL(PSMSL)
- THE WEBSITES OF THE MALAYSIAN METEOROLOGICAL DEPARTMENT WAS VISITED FOR RECORD OF MAJOR FLOOD AND EXTREME EVENT.
- STUDIES ON HISTORICAL CLIMATIC TRENDS WERE USE TO ENSURE THE VALIDITY OF THE CLIMATIC AND SEA LEVEL DATA.
- LITERATURE RELATED TO CLIMATE HAVE BEEN REVIEWED TO EXAMINE DATA CONSISTENCY
- JOURNAL ARTICLES AND NEWS REPORT WERE USE TO PROVIDE MORE DIVERSE PERSPECTIVES OF THE REVIEW IN GENRES

MEAN DAILY TEMPERATURE
THE REPORTED APPROXIMATE RATE OF MEAN TEMPERATURE IN INCREASE WAS 0.25 °C/DECADE FOR THE PENINSULAR MALAYSIA, 0.20 °C/DECADE FOR SABAH AND 0.14 °C/DECADE FOR SARAWAK.

INTRODUCTION
- AVERAGE GLOBAL LAND AND OCEAN TEMPERATURE INCREASE BY 0.85 °C FROM 1880 TO 2012.
- WARMING OCEAN HAS VERY LIKELY RESULTED IN SEA LEVEL RISE OF 0.8 mm/year FROM 1971 TO 2010.
- HEAT WAVE HAD OCCURRED MORE FREQUENTLY IN EUROPE, ASIA AND AUSTRALIA IN MID-20TH CENTURY
- MALAYSIA ANNUAL CLIMATE VARIABILITY IS CLOSELY TIED TO THE SOUTHWEST AND THE NORTHEAST MONSOONS.
- MALAYSIA HAS EXPERIENCED WARMING AND RAINFALL IRREGULARITIES PARTICULARLY IN THE LAST TWO DECADES.
- AGRICULTURE IS USED TO STUDY THE EFFECT OF CLIMATE CHANGE DUE TO IT BEING HIGHLY DEPENDANT ON CLIMATE FACTORS.
- INTEREST IN THE EFFECT OF CLIMATE CHANGE ON PADDY WAS IMMENSE WITH NUMEROUS DEDICATED RESEARCH.
CONCLUSION
- CLIMATE CHANGE IN MALAYSIA IS REFLECTED VIA THE HISTORICAL OF CLIMATE DATA.
- EFFORTS TO INCREASE SEGREGATION OF HOUSEHOLD WASTES AND RECYCLING, AND TO ENCOURAGE SHARING OF THE ROAD TRANSPORT AND THE USE OF PUBLIC TRANSPORT COULD BE STEPPED UP.
- INFORMATION PLATFORM IS NEEDED TO ENABLE A CLOSER CLIMATIC WATCH AMONG FISHERMEN AND FARMERS TO FACILITATE THIER ADAPTATION TO CLIMATE CHANGE.
- MALAYSIA SHOULD FORGED MORE COLABORATION REGIONALLY AND INTERNATIONALLY IN EFFORT TO MITIGATE AND ADAPT TO THE IMPACTS OF CLIMATE CHANGE.
- POLICY AND PLANS ARE FUTILE WITHOUT EFFECTIVE IMPLEMENTATION WHICH IN TURN RELIES ON ENFORCMENT.
