1) ingratiators, most positive, "teachers pets"
2) complients, less strongly positive
3) opportunists, fluctuates between teachers and peers approval
4) ritualists, 'go through the motions' of attending school
5) retreatists, reject school without outright rebellion e.g. by daydreaming in lessons
6) colonizers, no importance of academic success but try get away with enough to 'keep their noses clean'
7) intransigents, indifferent to academic success and reject accepted standards of behaviour
8) rebels, rejection of school
