CAUSATIVE AGENTS ?
Bacterial Infections
The most prevalent cause of corneal ulcers is bacterial infections. Contact lens wearers who don't clean their contacts correctly or wear them while sleeping are more likely to get these infections. Bacterial causes include Pseudomonas aeruginosa, coagulase-negative staphylococcus, and Staphylococcus aureus.
Viral Infections
Cold sores are caused by the herpes simplex virus, which can cause recurrent episodes. Stress, a weakened immune system, or exposure to sunlight can all provoke these attacks. Corneal ulcers can also be caused by the varicella virus, which causes chicken pox and shingles.
Fungal infections
Contact lenses or steroid eye drops used improperly can induce fungal infections, which can lead to corneal ulcers. Fungal keratitis can also be caused by a corneal injury that results in plant material seeping into the eye.
Acanthamoeba
Acanthamoeba is a single-celled, tiny amoeba that may infect humans. In both fresh water and soil, they are the most frequent amoebae. When Acanthamoeba penetrates the eye, it can cause a serious infection, especially in those who wear contact lenses.
