Dissolved Air Flotation - Coggle Diagram
Dissolved Air Flotation
Definition
Solid Liquid separation process where microbubbles attach themselves to particles in the water and float them to surface where they form a floating sludge blanket which is easily removed
DAF is another process of solid liquid separation if do not want to use the conventional sedimentation process
Advantages:
- Effective for low turbidity water
- Effective suspended solids & algae removal
- Occupy less area
- No polymer required which will reduce the coagulant dosage
- Required Less time
- Produce thick sludge
Disadvantages:
- Not suitable for clarification of high turbidity water where sedimentation process will be more effective for high turbidity
- Required more electrical power
- Tank must be covered
Flotation Tank Zone
Reaction Zone
- Air injection device at the bottom
- Turbulent Flow
- consists of nozzle to reduce air bubbles
