      - Nearly every civilian was put to work in factories and the unemployment rate was almost completely gone.
      - A lot of goods were running low so the government resorted to rationing - when people can only buy small amounts of items that were also needed for war effort.
        
        Soon, rationing covered a wide range of things. From butter up to shoe leather.
        
        The Government also limited the amount of information that was being spread about the war.
        
        Leader feared that the honestly of war would turn people against it.
        
        Governments also used propaganda- one-sided information designed to persuade, to keep up morale and support for the war.
        
        Why did the wartime governments take control of their countries' economies?- the wartime government took control because they wanted to make sure the soldiers were as strong as they could be. Which lead the government to taking over mostly everything within the country.
        
        How did Total War lead to rationing? everyone's focus was on supplying the soldiers and the war front. By rationing all of the civilians resources then more resources were able to go towards the war fronts.
  - - - Even though women left the work force when the war ended, it still changed everyone's perspective as to what women can do and accomplish.
      - Women were one of the only 'civilians' that saw the ugly truth of the war first hand.
        
        Communication- Since the government chose to lie to civilians and not truly communicate, women were the ones to step up to the plate and tell everyone how it truly is.

        Why might Westerners have experienced disillusionment in the wake of World War I?
        They had lost everything, and that is hard for anyone to take. They needed almost some way to protect themselves.

        I think that it would be all of the poisons gasses and big weapons that they could not control exactly where they went. With the glasses they went as far as they wanted to go, you can't control that

        This is a great example of an unintended consequence, they did not go into this expecting to lose this many people or they may not have done it.

        What effect did the Russian Revolution have on Russia's Role in WW1? Because of this revolution the were forced to withdraw from the war. This meant that there was no longer a threat on the east side of Germany. Germany could now move all troops to the west and focus on the war over there.

        How did the surrender of the Ottoman Empire, Bulgaria, and revolution in Austria-Hungary lead to the end of WW1? After these countries surrendered the only country left of the Central Powers was Germany, they were weak from years of fighting and say uprisings in there own country.

        This is a concept for this part of the chapter because each side had to keep bringing on troops because it was a stalemate and the Consequence of this was many soldiers dying to keep a certain area of land from the others.

        Most of America already favored the Allies but this pushed them to be into the war because Germany trying to convince Mexico to attack the USA would not be good.
