Social awareness in ELT
As teachers, it is important to manage the cultural context of the classroom.
The sociocultural aspect of learning is especially sensitive in EFL because learning a language entails appropriation of a cultural identity to some level.

Through interaction with others, children can develop awareness of themselves.

The social event
The zone of proximal development (ZPD) or scaffolding is the difference between what a child can accomplish on their alone and what they can accomplish with others.
Children can obtain knowledge inside an activity or social exchange within other humans using language as a tool.
As a result, the interactive process becomes the social product.
Patterns of exchange
Teachers often fall into role where they control the pattern of knowledge between themselves and the pupils which is known as IRF that has been identified by Edward and Mercers as Initiation, Respond and Feedback (IRF).

The nature of the task and the medium whether it is visual or oral will measure the degree of success in interaction among the children.
