The people reacted very negatively. in their effort to show aversion towards The Apartheid, they boycotted south Africa
This is a law that seperates the population by their skin colour. Where things/places where divided for the "black" and "Whites".

How were these laws viewed by the population they affected?
They were viewed as unfair and unjust by south Africans as they loss their freedom.

WHY
The reason behind the popular protest is that the unfairness of the law obviously favors the "white" individual more which sparks the anger the native Africans have control over the course of years/ century. With the right mindset, the individual decides to stop this segregation as it is unfair. At this time most of native Africans are treated badly and rudely as if they have no dignity. As well as this land should belong to the public not only the white as they are mostly migrant to South Africa.

One of the people who resisted apartheid was the former president of South Africa, Nelson Mandela. He had played a big role as an anti-apartheid revolutionary and political leader who worked on bringing down the apartheid legacy.
Hendrik Verwoed the former Prime Minister as leader of the National Party was one of the key people to the establishment of the Apartheid.
Apartheid prohibited black people from accessing urban areas if they don't have a job and prohibited them from setting up businesses in white people area.
