1) A newly business model that allows companies and individuals to buy and sell goods and services over the Internet.
2) It is said customers come to the website or online marketplace and purchase products using electronic payments and the parcel will be delivered to their doorstep.
3) This business mode is said to ease people lifestyle both buyer and seller as it provides conveniences compared to traditional business model
Due to the mass customer base and multiple needs, the company is facing issue in delivering a quality services to the customers. **
Why customers prefer online- shopping?
1) Save time and effort. Customers do not have to stand in queues in cash counters to pay for the products that have been purchased by them.
2) Wide variety/ range of products are available. The concept of online- store is to operate 24 hours with a large product range from multiple sellers to sell in one platform to increase the product availability.
3) Lower prices guarantee and multiple discount. E- retailers and marketers offer discounts to the customers as they have cut down on real estate and maintenance cost the sellers won't back out in giving huge discounts.
4) Detailed information about the product is provided. All sellers is recommend to display a full information about the product to solve customers enquiries when selecting the product.
5) Easier to make comparison to various models/ brands. Customers can make comparison to the products by just one click and do not need to visit to different store.
6) Convenience to shop at home. Customers can shop at any place and any time and do not have to spend time travelling to the physical stores.
Customer Complaints/ Problems Encountered
1) Delay in delivery. Long duration and lack of proper inventory management result in delays in shipment. The parcel might arrived after the estimated delivery period.
2) Lack of significant discounts in online shops. Physical stores claim to give significant discounts when compared to online stores. Older generation may view this as an disadvantage for online
3) Missing the shopping experience. The tradisional shopping exercise provides a lot of entertainment in the form of showroom atmosphere such as scent and sounds that cannot be experienced through a website. And consumers might look forward for an opportunity to go out and shop.
4) Frauds in online shopping. Online payment and transaction are unsecured. The rate of cyber crimes has been increasing and customer's credit card detailes and bank details have been misused which raise privacy issues when customers subscribe to the e- wallet on Shopee platform.
5) Issue on delivery partners. Customers received parcel in bad conditions due to the un-proper delivery service made by the delivery partners.
Reverse Analysis- Problem arises from off-line shopping
1) Going from one shop to another can be exhausting and time -consuming. Customers need to spend hours roaming around looking for certain product, but end up buying nothing.
2) Discounts and offers are given only for a short period. Online shopping provides even better of discount and is available 24 hours.
3) Crowded in malls and stores especially during special holidays. Need to queue up to make payment in every stores.
