Layers of the Earth - Coggle Diagram
Layers of the Earth
crust
The crust consists of of solid rocks and minerals. The mantle is beneath the crust, which is also mostly solid rocks and minerals. But it is punctuated by malleable of semi-solid magma.
-
The Continental crust is 30-70 km thick, the oceanic crust is 6-12 km
mantle (upper & lower)
-
The area from 660 to 2900 km below the Earth's surface: right between the transition zone and the outer core
Geosphere
Any of the nearly spherical concentric regions of matter that make up Earth and it's atmosphere, the Lithosphere and the Hydrosphere
If humans were without the Lithosphere it would not be possible for them to live on the planet because there wouldn't be any solid ground.
Core(Inner & Outer)
-
The Outer Core is about 2,200 km (1,367 mi) think, consists of mostly liquid iron and nickel.
Lithosphere
The rigid outer part of the Earth, consists of the crust and mantle.
-
Asthenosphere
The upper layer of the mantle, is below the Lithosphere. Where there is a relatively low resistance to plastic flow and convection that is thought to occur
-
Continental Crust
The thick part of the Earth's crust that forms the large landmasses. It is older and more complex than the Oceanic Crust
