types:
- alopecia areata: hair loss caused by autoimmune disorder where there will be wither single patchy baldness or extensive hair loss in the scalp
- a. Totalis: hair loss over all the ares of scalp and advanced form of a.a
- A. Universalis: advanced form of AA that causes hair loss in the all the areas of the body including eye lashes and eye brows
- A. Barbae: type of AA where hair loss occurs in the localized bearded region that can be wither small single patchy or extensive hair loss over the entire beard region
- Androgenic alopecia: also known as male pattern of baldness and female pattern of baldness
thinning of the hair takes place to almost transparent state and it is heredity
excess androgens blocking the hair growth and after menopause in women
- scarring alopecia: caused when there is permanent damage to the hair follicles due to bacterial, burns or severe infections to the follicles
- postpartum a :caused due to hormonal changes after the birth. it last for about 1 year and hair groth recycles after 1year
- Trichitilomania: it is self-induced or concurrent hair loss as individual experiences severe tension befor4 puling the hair and relief of get gratification after pulling the hair
- Triangular hai loss: aka temporal alopecia: it can be congenital and iccurs during childhood period where there will be patch of loss that may be complete or leaves some hair vellus behind . it is non-scarring and non-inflammatory
- Syphilitic alopecia: present in syphilis patient that has irregular patches. appears like moth-eaten

exposure to allergens, toxins, irritants and burns and infections

finasteride: supress dihydrotestoterone conversion from testosterone and promotes normal hair growth
minoxidol: to treat male and femal pattern of hair growth
cortecosteroids inj. : areata alopecia that suppresses immune system
retin A or tretinoin with minoxidol in gel form to indce hair growth
