Throughout her life Bradstreet was concerned with the issues of sin and redemption, physical and emotional frailty, death and immortality. Much of her work indicates that she had a difficult time resolving the conflict she experienced between the pleasures of sensory and familial experience and the promises of heaven
puritan believed that marriage is ordained by God and a gift and in her poetry she expresses love for this gift - often assumed that puritan women resented their husbands but Anne clearly loved her husband
depsite heavy criticism of women during her time, Anne continued to write poetry suggesting her rebellion against societal norms
