Research design type
Lack of supervision
Participants (especially students sitting at the back of the classroom) can easily cheat, leading to inaccurate results.
Eg, noting the words as they are listening to the audio
To prevent this, organise tables so that all students are facing the front of the classroom. This allows the experimenter to easily supervise from the back of the classroom and ensure all participants are following the instructions.
The audio- Playing at different volumes. Since the participants are not allowed to listen to the audio before the experiment begins, they may be unsure of what to set their volume as.
If volume is not adjusted correctly, participants may mishear some words and will have to spend some time adjusting during the experiment.
Experimenters should listen to all of the audios and find the perfect volume to play it at. Using this information, experimenters can instruct participants to play the audio at the certain volume.
Alternatively, participants can listen to an example audio to find the correct volume and also ensure their technology is functioning properly.
Since the results of the experiment was recorded on a public google sheets document, it was not confidential.
(This also meant the data collection was unethical)
Some students may look at other student's result and compare themselves. For example, If they notice that their score is lower than others, they may feel embarrassed and can easily lie about their score since this data is collected subjectibely.
(Can also go under the dependant variable section)
To overcome this, participants will be asked to type their recalled list of words on an anonymous google form and the experimenters will count the number of correct words, making this the data collection objective.

If the participants are able to see the timer, it may cause stress or distraction. This can potentially lower the average number of words.
The experimenter will start the timer, however the remaining time will not be visible to the participants.

Variables
Independant
Not everyone has the same level of hearing and understanding of English, therefore they may not be able to understand the scenario.

-
Dependant
Number of words- This method of measuring the results is fine, since it can not be influenced by external factors. Just make sure participants double check the number of words in case they miscounted.
