Stem cells in humans
Stem cells are cells that have not done differentiation. A cell which has not yet become specialised is called undifferentiated.
An embryo develops from a fertilised egg. Cells at the early stages in the development of the embryo are stem cells.
Some stem cells remain in the bodies of adults - adult stem cells. Adult stem cells are found in limited numbers at certain locations of the body

Stem cells in Plants
-
The cells of the meristem can differentiate to produce all types of plant cells at any time during the life of the plant.

Homeostasis
-
Is the regulation of conditions inside the body to maintain a stable internal environment, in response to both internal and external conditions.

The nervous system
-
Central nervous system
-
Finds out what is wrong with the body and then decides what can be done about it. sending things to other parts of the body.
Sensory Neurons
Detects the change in temperature, CO2 in the blood and sends it to the Central nervous system

Circulatory System
Blood vessels
Arteries = Carry blood away from the heart ........ ............. Capillaries = Exchange nutrients and oxygen with tissues
Veins = Carry the blood back to the heart

The Heart
-
Blood flows into the heart via the vena cava and the pulmonary vein. - The blood from the pulmonary vein has come from the lungs meaning it is oxygenated, while the blood from vena cava is deoxegenated
-
Two sides - One carries deoxygenated blood from the heart to the lungs, where it gains oxygen and flows back to the heart. But the other one carries the oxygenated blood to the rest of the body.
Pacemakers
For it to repeat there are a group of cells in the right atrium that act as a pacemaker. That produce small electrical impulses that spread throughout the muscular walls of the heart causing them to contract.
Sometimes these cells don't work meaning there has to be an artificial pacemaker that we place under the skin of the heart, and has a wire that can carry electrical current to the heart telling it to contract
