Follow your dreams and don't give up on what you want.
You have big dreams, but are faced with a lot of challenges. You want to go to college and become a doctor. You know that it is going to be a long difficult journey. Throughout this process you have to choose to keep going or give up. What will you do?
Your first choice is deciding what college you will attend. Throughout high school you have done well in all of your classes and maintained a good GPA. You have also gotten good scores on your ACT and SAT. There are many things to consider when picking the school you want to attend. So far you have 2 top schools. These are Pittsburgh University of Pennsylvania, and John Hopkins University. You currently reside in Michigan. You will have to decide if you want to stay close to home and your family or not.
You made the decision to continue your schooling at Pittsburgh University of Pennsylvania. You move in and become really good friends with your roommate. You have really enjoyed the courses you have been taking, and you have been doing well in them. When you go back home to visit your family for spring break you are offered an internship at the hospital near your hometown. You know that t is a competitive field and could help you secure a job in the future, but will be a lot of work. Will you take the internship or not?
You chose to accept the internship. You are now going to spend the summer at home but still continuing to learn things at the hospital you are interning at. One day you see a patient gasping for air and no other doctors are around. You know that you aren't supposed to be operating on patients unless instructed to do so. You are running out of time and can't find anyone for help. Do you help the patient knowing it could get you in trouble, or do you continue to look for help.
You chose to help the patient knowing it could get you in trouble. A doctor rushes into the room when they see you working on the patient and tell you to immediately stop. You listen, but sadly know what is going to happen next. End 1
You decide to play it safe and find another doctor to help the patient. Even though you want to help you realize that this is the responsible decision and will be better for you in the future. The doctor and patient are both glad that you found help and did not try to do anything by yourself. The doctor offers you to scrub in to his next surgery and be in the OR with him instead of watching from a glass box above the OR. Do you want to scrub in on the surgery or continue watching from the glass box.
You chose to scrub in on the surgery. This gives you the experience you need and allows you to make connections with good doctors. After you finish medical school you are offered a job at the same hospital you interned at and become the best surgeon at the hospital.
You chose to continue watching from the glass box above the OR. You regret your decision and know that you have to seize every opportunity presented to you. This decision allows you to still have experience, just not the best that it could be. After you graduate you are offered two jobs. One is in California, which will be across the United States from your family. The other one is local and will allow you to be close to your family.
You chose to take the local job. You stay close to your family and have a happy life. You also stay close with the friends that you made during your internship and get to preform surgeries with them everyday.
You chose to take the job in California and start a new life. You are very happy and start a family. You also become a great surgeon.
You chose to decline the internship. You will spend your summer in your hometown and continue with schooling in the fall. Go to End 2
You chose to go to John Hopkins University. You have decided that this university will be a good fit for you. In the next few months you prepare to start a new chapter of your life. You are excited to all of the new opportunities that you will have. You have some big decisions to make. It is now moving day and you meet your roommate. They seem like a nice person and you are excited to make new friends. After you get all of your things moved in your roommate asks you to come to a party tonight so that you can meet new people. You have to decide to go to the party or not.
You have decided that you will go to the party with your roommate. You get something to eat and then start to get ready for the party. You meet a few people that have the same major as you and some of the same classes as you. You know that you're smart, but the way the students talk about the classes makes you nervous that you won't be able to do it. You start classes within the next few days and quickly realize that this is more challenging than you expected it to be. You have to chose if you are going to persevere and work hard for your dreams or if you want to give up.
You chose to fall behind in your classes because you don't understand the material being taught. This causes your grades to drop. You now have to decide if you want to work hard and try to catch up on your classes or if you want to continue to be behind.
Your poor decisions have caused you to not be able to get a job. You are forced to give up on your dream and find another job.
You get accepted into your second choice school and eventually become a surgeon.
You work hard and do well in your classes. You graduate in the top 7% in your class. You get accepted into your top medical school. You have your dream job and become one of the top surgeons in the United States.
You chose to not go to the party. You decide to go to dinner with some friends with your same major. You discover that you have some of the same classes together and have a weekly study group. You get the opportunity to take another elective course to further you're knowledge in the medical field. Your choices are a course that lets you watch all surgeries performed by the top surgeon in the country in person, or a course that allows you to see all of the procedures done on professional athletes from sports teams around the state.
You chose to take the shadow course. You learn a lot about dealing with patients and performing surgeries in this course. It prepares you well for your career. Now you have to decide if you want to get accepted into your top medical school and have very little social life, or get accepted into one of your backup schools and have more of a social life.
End 2
You chose to take the course with professional athletes. This class prepares you well for your future career.
