Client Overview: 30 y.o. male with high functioning ASD. The client has a history of homelessness. He is motivated to return to societal living but is anxious and uncomfortable.
Client Goals: gain social skills to obtain a job and be more independent
Incidence: 2.21% of adults in the U.S. have ASD (CDC-a, 2020)
Prevalence: According to most recent data, 1 in 44 children born in 2010 were diagnosed with ASD (CDC-b, 2020)
Symptoms: anxious, uncomfortable, perseverates
Prognosis: Due to the client's high functioning ASD diagnosis, engagement in mental health treatment, and initiation of moving into a supported apartment, the client has a good prognosis to live independently, successfully hold a job, and more.
The client's lack of turn-taking during conversation impacts his ability to establish meaningful social relationships.
