- observer shows CG & Infant into experimental room then leaves - 30 secs
- CG sits & watches child play - 3 mins
- stranger enters, silent then talks to CG, then interacts w/ infant
→ CG leaves room
- stranger tries interacting w/ infant - 2 mins
- CG returns & comforts child - stranger leaves - CG then leaves - 3 mins

- stranger enters & tries to interact w/ child
- CG enters & comforts child → stranger leaves
all episodes, except 1, last 3 mins unless child becomes very upset

- A- Insecure avoidant - avoids social interactions
little - no response to separation → do not seek CG when reunited
Highly anxious & feels free to explore world with/out CG there
- B - Secure - No tears when CG leaves, some distress w/ strangers
seeks CG when uncomf. & easily soothed by CG
CG acts as secure base
- C - Insecure Resistant - seeks & resists intimacy w/ CG
immediate distress when CG leaves & w/ strangers
when reunited w/ CG display conflict for & against contact w/ CG
may resist being picked up but seek attention
