TOPIC 20 THE COMMERCIAL ACTIVITY
Business is paramount
because it complements
production. Products must be
transferred to the market for
sold and bought by the consumer.
A product follows the channels of commercialization until reaching the consumer,
from the big commerce and the medium stores, to the small commerce; from the
department stores, supermarkets and wineries, to the small neighborhood stores
and markets; from food sales to fuel sales, vehicles, construction materials, textiles,
clothing and footwear.
According to the last census of the year 2010, the commercial activities absorbed
800 thousand people, who constitute 17% of the active and working population of
the country (that is the economically active population). Most of the local or
commercial establishments are small family businesses with up to five workers or
on their own, where women play a very important role
Due to the lack of sources of employment or fixed jobs, many people have opted for
small street sales as the only means to earn a living or to supplement family income.
The farmers whose plots do not allow them to live with their production they come
from the countryside to the city and are located in the small commerce of streets
