Intentional torts
Intent: D's desire the act will cause a harmful result or knows with substantial certainty that the result will follow

Against Persons
Assault: reasonable apprehension of an immediate harmful or offensive contact. Words are insufficient. Overt act is required. Actual damages not required; can recover nominal damages
Battery: harmful or offensive contact with the V or something closely connected w/V. Includes setting in motion a force. Apprehension not required
False Imprisonment: Causes P to be confined or restrained to a bounded area against P's will & P knows of the confinement or is injured. Very brief time is sufficient.
Defense: Shopkeeper's privilege
IIED: Intentional or reckless act amounting to extreme and outrageous conduct that causes the P severe mental distress
Against Property

Trespass to chattels: Intentional act that interferes with the Ps chattel, causing harm (tangible or intangible property)
