Protists - Coggle Diagram

- - - - use pseudopods to move and often to eat. They also do not have shells.
        
        Slime molds
        
        operates as a whole while remaining a colony. It has a mobile feeding stage and also a stationary reproductive stage (fruiting body).
        
        Cellular (social amoebas)
        
        individual haploid cells that live in soil and produce pseudopods in order to move and gain nutrients. When times become harsh, it can produce a signal that attracts the cells nearby to form a pseudoplasmodium that slowly moves towards a spot to release spores.
        
        Acellular (plasmodial)
        
        mass of cytoplasm with a large area. Made up of a vast amount of diploid nuclei that aren't relegated to cells (plasmodium). They are often orange or yellow, and form fruiting bodies that can produce haploid spores when conditions are harsher.
        
        Amoebas
        
        typically seen in bodies of freshwater, and are often predators or parasites. Can cause disease and multiply quickly.
    - - have pseudopods (finger like projections that are extended from
        flexible plasma membranes) that are thin, can come from hard shells, and can be described as thread-like.
        
        Radiolarians
        
        make-up of pseudopods is similar to foraminiferans but made up of silica (glass-like).
        
        Foraminiferans
        
        typically marine protist that can have unique shells made of calcium carbonate. Pseudopods can extends through many tiny "pores" in the shell. When they decompose, they form limestone deposits.
