Protists - Coggle Diagram
Protists
what is a protist?
- A subset of eukaryotes that contains a diverse array of organisms. Most are single celled and microscopic.
- Most reproduce asexually by mitotic cell division, but many are able to reproduce sexually (this would only happen on occasion).
-
- They may ingest food that is packed into a food vacuole (predators, can often change the shape of their cell membranes and engulf their food, can have pseudopods), gain it by absorbing from surroundings (can be in soil and work as decomposers, or be in an organism as a harmful parasite), or use photosynthesis (often in aquatic areas).
