Thus, at the end of the 19th century, Latin America joined the international division of labor, exporting primary products. With those revenues they imported industrialized manufactured products. Of the total world exports of primary products, Latin America exported 18% of cereals, 12% of livestock, 62% of coffee, tea and cocoa, 38% of sugar, 14% of fruits and vegetables, 25% of rubber, furs and leather.
