Schacht's New Plan

What it set out the Gov to control:
- Trade
- Tariffs
- Currency Exchange
- excessive imports
- Cut imports on cotton and wool, but metal was allowed to help the heavy industry
Schacht's Successes:
- Limited German Exports
- He made trade agreements with individual countries, and they supplied Germany with essential raw materials in return for German goods.
- By 1935, production had increased by 50%
Why was Scacht removed?
- He did not agree with Hitlers persuant of rearmament as the economy was too weak
Goring's 4 Year Plan
Came about due to the 'guns or butter' debate, where the Nazi government had to decide between arms production or industrial goods.
Aims:
- autarky (self sufficiency)
- regulate imports and exports
- increase production of war materials
- develop substitute goods
- increase agricultural production
