Failure to function adequately
When someone's thoughts, mood or behaviour affects poorly their well-being or becomes a threat to themselves/others.
Deviation from Social norms
Accepted standards of behaviour when in social groups.
For example, we know how to act whilst getting on a bus.
Example: Antisocial personality disorder.
Make others feel uncomfortable
Norms specific to culture, locality, socioeconomic background.
Deviation from ideal mental health
High self esteem
Being capable of personal growth
Autonomous/self-regulating
Resistant to everyday stress
Mastery of your own environment
Accurate view of reality.
Statistical infrequency
Behaviour numerically infrequent/uncommon with the normal population.
Extremes on a curve fall into this category.
Examples include height, weight intelligence etc.
Application: Intellectual Disability disorder.
