I think that a representative that I want would have to be self-controlled, does what the people want and is easy to work with

What is the Purpose of Associations
Associations exist to join many groups working for the same purpose
Associations represent and protect their members
Some associations help small minority groups of people.
With joining many smaller groups together the association can help more people
How do Associations make decisions
Associations in Alberta use representative democracy so the people in the association can vote on different things
People in associations that use representative democracy elect representatives to carry out the things that the people voted on.
Everyone that wants to vote can vote for what they want the association to do. then the vote goes to the representative and the representative uses the information to do what the people want.
How do Associations Communicate with their members
Lots of associations will hold meetings to keep the members of the associations updated on what is happening
Lots associations will have a magazine or a website to stay updated on their representatives and what is happening elsewhere
Many organizations are moving over the email to keep people updated
In some associations a small group of people can get together and talk about what is happening in the world and what the representative is doing
