Odyssey Map, Troy - Coggle Diagram

- - - - Odysseus and his men dock at The Island of the Cyclopes. they wandered around until they found a cave where they made an offering to the gods and feasted. this is when they encounter Polyphemus, a cyclops. Odysseus and his men hide in the cave but Polyphemus finds them. Odysseus claimed his name is Nohbdy and that he is the bravest of the men. The Cyclopes ate some of Odysseus's men and Odysseus comes up with a plan to kill him. they get him drunk on wine and then stab him in the eye. this blinds him and Odysseus and his men escape under sheep. he then tells the cyclops that he is Odysseus of Ithica and that was a mistake. Posiden is now mad at Odysseus and punishes him by creating a storm that wrecks their ship.
      - Aeolia (The Island of Aeolus)
        
        Odysseus then arrives at The Island of Aeolus. Aeolus, the wind god, gave Odysseus a bag of wind that was not to be opened until they get back to Ithaca. However, Odysseus's men opened the bag thinking it was gold and the bind blew them even farther away from Ithaca.
        
        Telepylos (Land of the Laestrygonians)
        
        the winds blow their ship to the Land of the Laestrygonians. Odysseus sends 3 of his men on to the land and the Laestrygonian king eats one of the scouts. the men quickly flee back to the sips but a lot of them had been destroyed by the Laestrygonians. They do escape and row to Aeaea
        
        Aeaea (Circe's Island)
        
        Odysseus sends half of his men to go look for food and water on Circe's Island. They hear Circe's singing and arrive at her house. this is when Circe turns all of the men into pigs. Eurylokhos runs back to the ship to inform Odysseus of what has happened and Odysseus decides to go talk to Circe. on the way he runs into Hermes that gives him a magical flower to help Odysseus protect himself against Circe's spells and also gives him advice. Circe offers Odysseus some drugged wine and he drinks it with no issues. Circe is surprised and ask Odysseus to sleep with her. He refuses unless she swears to an oath. After they sleep together Circe frees his men and they all live with Circe for a year. After a year he asks Circe how he can get home and she tells him that he first must head for the Underworld and look for Tiresias.
        
        The Underworld (Land of the Dead)
        
        When they reach The Underworld Odysseus enters alone and sacrifices and ewe and a lamb. He then has to fight off other spirits but eventually he finds Tiresias. Tiresias tells Odysseus how to get home and then he begins to leave. This is when Odysseus sees his mothers spirit. He talks to his mother to find out how and why she had died. He then leaves The Underworld and heads for home.
        
        The Island of the Sirens
        
        Before Odysseus left Circe’s island she warned him of the Sirens. She told him that the Sirens are creatures that lure men towards them, causing the the ships to break on the rocks, with their singing. He had to put beeswax in the oarsman's ears so they did not hear the singing and steer towards the island. He also had to be tied to the mast of the ship if he wished to listen and that no matter how much begging was done, his men could not untie him until they were past the island.
