        Separation Of Powers three separate but equal branches of government
        
        Checks and Balances- The Checks and Balances system provides each branch of government with individual powers to check the other branches and prevent any one branch from becoming too powerful.
        
        Limited Government- Government limited in power.
        
        Legislative Power – Impeachment: to bring charges against an elected official in an attempt to formally remove from office
        
        Legislative Power – **Override:** legislative power; to overrule a presidential veto
        
        Executive Power – Nomination/Appointment: executive power; places justices and other government officials in power with Senate approval
        
        Executive Power – Veto: executive power; to reject a law
        
        Judicial Power – Judicial Review: power of the Supreme Court; checks to see if bills and executive orders are "constitutional"
        
        Legislative: the branch of government which DECLARES WAR,the branch of government which creates and collects TAXES
        
        bicameral: a legislature consisting of two houses
        
        House of Representatives: legislative house which uses the Virginia Plan (PROPORTIONAL representation), depending on the size of the state: 435 total representatives.
        
        Senate: legislative house which uses the New Jersey Plan (EQUAL representation), 2 perstate: 100 total
        
        President: Elected every 4 years, must be 35 yrs or older.
        
        Vice President: President of the Senate; only votes in case of TIES
