ADHD - Coggle Diagram

- - - - Trouble sleeping
      - Weight loss
      - Loss of apetite
    - - Cause rapid or irregular heartbeat
      - Take the same way each time. So if PO, always PO.
      - With capsule or tablet, it shouldn't be crushed or chewed. Only swallowed.
    - - Adults: 20mg-30mg given in divided doses two to three times per day
      - Children: 6 yrs or older 5mg, 2x per day
    - - It's a stimulant and it inhibits the reuptake of dopamine and norephinephrine
    - - Monitor blood pressure and heart rate before, during, and after administration
      - Monitor weight daily
      - Monitor suicidal ideation
  - - - It's an amphetamine stimulant and it reduces impulsivity and improves their ability to focus
    - - Dry mouth
      - Stomach upset/pain
      - Diarrhea
    - - Adults: 40mg maximum daily
      - Children: 30mg maximum daily
    - - Take first dose in morning as soon as they wake up
      - Take PO with or without food
      - May cause insomnia
    - - Monitor vitals (BP, HR, RR)
      - Monitor activity
      - Monitor for behavioral change
  - - - Heartburn
      - Constipation
      - Gas
    - - It's an SNRI; It increases norepinephrine and dopamine
    - - Adult & children who weight over 70kg: 40mg daily, but after 3 days can increase to 80mg daily
      - Children less than 70kg: Dose is calculated based on body weight
    - - Report prolonged menstrual irregularities
      - Report troublesome side effects of urinary and sexual disfunction, indigestion, & dry mouth
      - Report skin reactions (itching, rashes, & hives)
    - - Assess HR, ECG, & BP
      - Be alert for suicidal thoughts
      - Monitor for allergic reactions
