VISION IMPAIRMENT :

DESCRIPTION
- a term experts use to describe any kind of vision loss, whether it's someone who cannot see at all or someone who has partial vision loss
- a person’s eyesight cannot be corrected to a “normal” level
CAUSES
- neurological conditions that affect the parts of the brain that control sight (cortical vision impairment)
- genetic conditions like albinism and retinitis pigmentosa
- damage or injury to the eye, to the pathways connecting the eye to the brain, or to the visual centre of the brain.
CAREGIVER BURDEN
- likely to be more depressed when the disability is greater

- caregivers who are under considerable stress often end up as patients themselves
