Propaganda

Internment camps
Japanese internment camps were established in order to "protect" America from possibly dangerous Japanese spies. These camps were glamourized by the US media but many former prisoners have a far less than enjoyable recollection of their stays.

Midway
The battle of Midway was a huge naval fight between Japan and the US. This battle was a huge turning point in naval warfare. Japan's navy was leveled and they lost all hope at ever being able to neutralize the US's naval power. The water was a hugely important battleground for Japan and after Midway, that advantage was lost.
Island Hopping
Island hopping was a strategy that the US used to gain territory in the Pacific that was occupied by Japanese forces. Large air raids would be flown in and would take control of the island. After a new airbase was established on the new land, the US would launch from there onto the next island. This continued to get more difficult as the Japanese mainland got closer.
