To free Lucy's soul, they cut her head off, rip out her heart, shove garlic and a crucifix in the chest cavity, put communion wafer in the coffin and bury the body again. This works, but freaks everyone out and attracts Dracula. Everyone survives, but Mina gets bitten in the attack.
