What are the function of a boiler in a plant? Is it possible a plant without a boiler? Give reasons.
-
A boiler is the heart of a plant, so it is impossible to run a plant without a boiler.
Reason: Without the right boiler feed water treatment, a steam-raising plant will suffer from scale formation and corrosion.
Boiler, How it works?
-
Operation of Boiler
- Burners in the boiler convert chemical energy in pulverized coal into thermal energy.
- The first heat absorption unit of the boiler is an economizer highly pressurized water supplied by the feed water pump.
- The economizer absorbs energy from the flue gas which raises the temperature of the fluid.
- The water flows into a steam drum to the down corner and passes through a narrow tube section and the phase change of the water happens in the water wall.
- The steam that is produced in addition to some water droplets enters the steam drum again and the steam leaving the steam drum is saturated.
