The scar
Where the boys’s plane crashed, symbolises the place where they go stranded and how they can’t go back. It can also mean how the kids got hurt and have to live without adults
The Lagoon
The Lagoon symbolizes freeness, carelessness and fun for the boys while they are on the island. It is part of the reason they declared the island a “good island” in the beginning of the book.
Inanimate objects
The conch
Is an extension of the symbol for democracy, order and civilization.
The fire
Is a symbol for hope, for example hope of being rescued.
Piggy’s glasses
Symbolizes logic, rationality and practicality. The glasses were practical when they were used to light the fire. When they were smashed, it symbolized savagery destroying science and rationality.
The beast

Jack’s mask
The mask represents Jack’s inner savagery and descent from civilization. This is apparent when he kills the pig with the mask on, but won’t with it off. Since he really likes how he looks with the mask, it shows us that it brings out his true nature.
