Create a question about the reading in order to focus

Answer question and define keywords
Make the text your own using highlighters
Use different symbols to help understand (!,?,*,)
Look at quotation marks to see if the author quoted another author
Reviewing
Take notes merge notes and summarize
Reading
Look for answers to the questions you wrote
Pay particular attention to the first and last lines of each paragraph.
Think about the relationships among section titles, boldface words, and graphics.
Skim quickly over parts of the section that are not related to the key questions.
Develop strategies to help you read effectively and quickly.
Pace yourself
Do not do try to do all the work break up the work in sections and take on the hardest work first
Schedule your reading
Do your reading when you are the most alert do not wait until the end of the day
Get yourself in the right space
Find a comfortable spot and chair to work in, do not do work in bed and do not get too cozy
Avoid distractions
While reading focus on only that. No TV, phone, nothing other than reading
Avoid reading fatigue
Work up to 50 minutes and take a break, put down the book, eat a snack and stretch
Read your most difficult assignments early
When the brain is at its freshest and ready moment
Make your reading interesting.
