The most important cell organelles
Ribosomes:
Cellular particles made of RNA
80 sized in Eukaryotes
Proteins are synthesized for use within the cell.
Assemble proteins
Endoplasmic reticulum:
It is peppered with ribosomes, this gives the rough aspect to the cell
is a continuous membrane system that forms a series of flattened sacs within the cytoplasm of eukaryotic cells.
all eukaryotic cells contains it
The ER can be classified in two functionally distinct forms: the smooth endoplasmic reticulum (SER) and the rough endoplasmic reticulum (RER).
It transport the proteins
Cell membrane:
The boundary of the cell
Prevents the entry or exit of some molecules and facilitates the movement of others.
Is a phospholipid bilayer
It´s permeable to oxygen and carbon dioxide.
It´s impermeable to water and charged particles
Golgi Apparatus:
Located in cytoplasm
A membrane-bound organelle found in eukaryotic cells
It is made up of a series of flattened stacked pouches called cisternae.
Responsible for transporting, modifying, and packaging proteins and lipids into vesicles for delivery to targeted destinations.
Nucleus:
Contains the Chromosomes which comprise most of the DNA in a cell.
It´s the largest organelle.
Has a double layer membrane.
Some cells have multiple nuclei
Mitochondrion:
Are membrane-bound cell organelles, are called the ¨power house¨ of the cell.
It has a smooth outer membrane and a folded inner membrane.
It converts sugar into ATP.
Here is where aerobic respiration occurs.
Centrioles and microtubules:
Centrioles are bundles of microtubules found in animal cells.
Microtubules separate chromosomes in cell division and makeup cilia and flagella.
Chloroplasts:
Is the site of photosynthesis in plant cells.
Stacks the Thylakoids.
It can convert light energy into stable chemical energy via photosynthesis.
Vacuoles and Vesicles:
Vesicles are small lipid sacs used for transport.
Animal cells sometimes have small vacuoles for digestion.
Unicellular organisms have contractile vacuoles for expelling water.
Plant cells have large vacuoles that hold water and food.
Lysosomes
subcellular organelle that is found eukaryotic cells
responsible for the digestion of macromolecules, old cell parts, and microorganisms.
Each of them are surrounded by a membrane that maintains an acidic environment
