International women's day takes place every year on 8th March to celebrate the achievements of women and a call to action encouraging everyone to stand up for women's rights and gender equality
150 years ago women couldn't vote, stand in parliament, own properties, get divorced, go to universities exc... So a lot of women and men as well started to protest for women's suffrage
One of these women was Emmeline Pankhurst. She with her daughters created the Women's Social and Political Union (WSPU) which fought for political equality for women.
Today everyone can get an education,get a job, receive medical attention but we still have some work to do before we reach the equality
