History & Origin
Basketball was invented in 1891 at the International Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) Training School (now Springfield College), Springfield, Massachusetts by James Naismith, a Canadian physical education instructor.

Basketball was introduced to France in 1893, England in 1894, and Japan in 1900.
