Thinking critically
Solve Problems
Communicating Ideas Effectively
Examples
Create New Ideas
Think outside of the box
Listen to the opinions of others
How can teachers encourage creativity?
Give students ownership over their learning
Allow students to form their own judgements
Encourage students to try new things
Connect Learning to the real world
Relate the four C's to current events
Allow students to discuss what is happening in the outside world
Implement Technology
Technology allows work to be heard and seen by others
Technology allows students to work more efficiently
Students need technology to collaborate with others to effectively use the four C's
This is where teachers must be aware of how important technology can be
To solve new problems and create new ideas, students need to work with each other
Technology is helpful because students can access knowledge that they would not have access to in low technology classrooms
It gives students a voice
Barriers to creativity and innovation
Access
Many students do not have a tablet or computer
Some students have too much access, so exposure should be limited
Tradition
Teachers aren't trained to use technology
Standardized tests are still very common for assessing knowledge
To combat these barriers, all parties must be willing to allow students to take charge of their own education. Technology should be a tool that is used to help in this process.
