Cell Membrane - Coggle Diagram
Cell Membrane
-
-
Membrane proteins
Integral Protein: embedded in/pass through the lipid bilayer (making it hard to remove from membrane)
-
-
-
Similarities: They are all integral protein, Differences: Glycoprotein has carbohydrates chain attach to the top and work differently. Carrier and Channel are very similar to each other, but carrier will change its shape in order to let the specific molecules pass through while Channel does not
Peripheral Protein : located outside of the membrane, not embedded in (attach/remove themselves from membrane)
Membrane Transport
Passive Transport
-
Types
Simple Diffusion
Small, Non-polar molecules cross the membrane directly through lipid bilayer
-
-
Facilitated Diffusion
Polar, charged molecules that need protein's help to pass through lipid bilayer
-
-
Similarities: They all are passive transport and so not need cell's energy, Difference: Diffusion and Facilitated are the movement of solute, while Osmosis is the movement of water
