AGRICULTURE
The geographical and ecological diversity of Ecuador allows the production of a wide variety of products that make up the diet of the Ecuadorian family. The country is also an exporter of fruits, foods and raw materials for the industry.
In the coast, mainly in Guayas and Los Ríos, rice is produced it carries out small and medium peasant farmers who sow and harvest in winter and summer.
Dry corn is a very important in the Sierra and the Coast. Also potatoes, barley and soft corn are grown in the Sierra, and soy in several places.
Cocoa has a historical tradition in Ecuador, mostly in Los Ríos, Guayas and Manabí. With Ecuadorian cocoa, chocolates are manufactured in many places in the world. Also, coffee is a product of export and national consumption.
Manabí has large areas of coffee, with 58,637 hectares. Loja, Sucumbíos and Orellana follow him in importance
In Guayas and Cañar there are extensive cane plantations that supply the large sugar mills are dedicated to the production of sugar and panela.

LIVESTOCK FARMING
Beef farming is the most widespread in Ecuador. Nowadays, milk production can supply domestic demand and be exported abroad. The dairy industry has grown in the production of derivatives such as cheese, cream and yogurt.

FISHING
Fishing is an economic activity of great development in Ecuador. The sea is a very appreciable stock of resources. On the coast of the Pacific Ocean the country has important fleets that fish for tuna, sardine and mackerel.
Crustaceans, such as shrimp and lobster, are also export products. However, the excessive commercial exploitation of the sea reveals a depletion of the fishing resource.
