The cell copies the genetic material and makes new viral genetic material and proteins. These components assemble into new viruses, which escape from the cell.
some cause completete breakdown of the cell (lysis) whilst other leave by pushing out through the cell membrane.
Both methods damage the cells, and this causes disease.
