Ovid - Actaeon
-
Actaeon, a hunter, stumbles upon a clearing where Diana and her nymphs are bathing
Diana, ashamed and embarrased, splashes water into there face of Actaeon, transforming him into a deer
He fled and was surprised by his own speed, saw his reflection in a stream
Actaeon hesitates, unsure whether to remain in the forest or return to the palace
In his hesitation, his own pack of hunting dogs spots him and begins pursuit
He is hunted down by his dogs and eaten alive, unable to signal too him that he is their master
Hands to hooves, arms to long legs, pointed his ears, elongated his face, draped his body with a dappled hide
