Date and place of birth:
Christopher Marlowe was born in Canterbury around February 26, 1564 (this was the day he was baptized).
Studies:
He went to King's School and won a scholarship that enabled him to study at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge, from the late 1580s to 1587. Marlowe took his BA in 1584, but in 1587 the college hesitated to award him his MA.
His death:
Violent in character, in 1589 he was accused of murder and shortly after of atheism, blasphemy and sodomy. Marlowe was killed in a dark fight shortly after a conspiracy arrest warrant was issued in Deptford.
Christopher Marlowe was a poet and playwright at the forefront of the 16th-century dramatic revival. He is considered the great predecessor of Shakespeare.
