Aquinas
Synderesis principle: human beings have a fundamental grasp of right and wrong. He conceived Synderesis as a habitual knowledge. For Aquinas, conscience is the consideration of a moral dilemma in light of one's moral knowledge. Conscience is not intuitive but a 'rational power' as it is not found in animals and allows a level of human reason and practical wisdom, therefore is a more rationalist approach.
