Benzodiazepines
mechanism of action
they facilitate the binding of the inhibitory neurotransmitter GABA at various GABA receptors throughout the CNS
They induce feelings of calm, drowsiness and sleep
route of administration

they may also be administered intramuscularly, rectally and intranasally
side effect
unsteadiness, most common in older patients who are likely to fall and experience injury.
memory problems, muscle weakness and slurred speech
contraindication

are indicated for patients with myasthenia gravis, sleep apnea, bronchitis and COPD.

mechanism of action

to enhance the sodium channel inactivation by reducing high-frequency repetitive firing of action potentials
route of administration

the regular chewable tablets which are taken by mouth, are normally taken two to four times a day with meals.

storage condition
tablets are stored in their original strips at 40 degrees Celsius-60 degrees Celsius for 3months and at 75% relative humidity.
